Structural Systems Class Fall 2019
In Collaboration with Lauren Lam and Carolina Zuniga
This Structural Model aims to embody the form and structure of the Vatican Chapel by Foster + Partners in Venice, Italy. Our model emphasizes the tension system which supports the pavilion using three main steel columns to hang the rest of the pathway. The hanger structural system works to give the Vatican Chapel a light and airy atmosphere and allows the pavilion to hover slightly above the site’s inclined slope to give the impression that the building’s floating.
